Sky Sports confirm new Marc Guehi bid - Take it or leave it for Crystal Palace? | NUFC Blog

Crystal Palace ponder offering new contract to Joachim Andersen as they close for Leicester City star deal

Crystal Palace might soon offer a new contract to Joachim Andersen but his £80,000-a-week wages amid his links with Fulham is addressed.

According to a report by Give Me Sport, Joachim Andersen is the subject of interest from Fulham. The Cottagers have already submitted a bid to re-sign the Crystal Palace defender in the summer transfer window. However, the Eagles are now mulling over offering him a new contract and hiking his £80,000-a-week wages to deal a blow to the West London club’s prospects.

Joachim Andersen has been one of the best defenders in the Premier League since joining Crystal Palace from Lyon in July 2021. The Dane had struggled for stability for a few years before an impressive loan stint with Fulham helped him earn a return to London by moving to Selhurst Park.

The 28-year-old signed a five-year contract with £80,000-a-week wages when he joined Crystal Palace. Since then, Andersen has gone from strength to strength, establishing himself as a pivotal figure for the South London club while turning out 112 times and chipping in with three goals and six assists.

Meanwhile, Joachim Andersen’s progress at Crystal Palace has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several well-known clubs across Europe. The latest update linked the Denmark international with Fulham, with the West London club submitting an offer to sign him.

Will Andersen return to Fulham anytime soon?

Fulham’s interest in re-signing Joachim Andersen is understandable. While the Cottagers have filled the void left by the departure of Tosin Adarabioyo by landing Jorge Cuenca from Villarreal, they will soon part ways with Tim Ream, who will return to his homeland before the summer transfer window shuts down.

So, it behoves Fulham to invest in another centre-back, considering Marco Silva has only two other central defenders in his squad apart from Cuenca. Andersen has thus emerged as a viable target for the West London club. However, Crystal Palace might soon pour water on Fulham’s hopes of re-signing the Dane by offering him a new contract.

The new deal will likely hike Joachim Andersen’s £80,000-a-week wages while ending Fulham’s hopes of re-signing him in the summer transfer window. With Crystal Palace in a spot of bother over Marc Guehi’s long-term future, tying the 28-year-old Danish defender to a new contract is understandable.
